There has been more than a century of research and experimentation into effective propaganda delivery (Public Relations), behavioral research, social media manipulation, and, yes, even a number of high profile official government programs have occurred that are in effect the exploration of manipulative control. That is to say we, collectively, know things about how to control people’s emotions primarily, leading ultimately to their thoughts.
There are also really smart people out there with complex minds that if motivated to do so certainly can conceptualize how to manipulate behavior on a mass scale, I bet it’s simpler than you’d think. For a contrast in understanding, it is said, that a person with and 85IQ cannot understand the person with a 135IQ, their brains’ conceptualize and comprehend the world very differently (average is 100). The highest IQ ever recorded was 228! I can’t even imagine that kind of mental ability, understanding complex concepts and connections must be nearly effortless, where more feeble minds have a hard time just forming a concept. The point is that there are very smart people, there is an extensive body knowledge, and the technological means to manipulate the motherf’n shit of us! …and very much appear to be doing so. Right?
How is this hard to accept for the majority of people? Seriously, It is difficult for me to accept some other reality that a curious mind and some web research can validate. It’s like denying that the smartest people tend congregate in the fields that pay the most handsomely. Finance is one industry where Quants learn to manipulate (even micro manipulations) and conceptualize markets, which are essentially mass psychology, for profit and gain. Do you not believe skilled public relations executives and other related specialists are not paid as well? Large interests hire bright minds to exploit the latest tech and push whatever it is they want to sell you, feel, eat, think is hot, and even, sadly, what to hate. Rage/hate is known to be the easiest to manipulate and incite on social media, again we know this! That is to say the average person is up against something much more intelligent and sophisticated than they can conceive. It is true, how can it not be?
Knowing that man’s natural state is tyranny (we’ve had a unique run), and that power and wealth is being concentrated at ever quickening rates, for obvious reasons (central banking, institutional corruption), it is hard for me to believe that any of these interests actually care about the people more than their plans.
— Part 2 —
I refuse to deny existence of reality to supplicate the delusions spun via primitive defense mechanisms of adult children parading as knowing shit! Aside from the prime purpose in life, to cultivate awareness, a goal in life should not be to harden one’s heart, but to soften it. Everything can be fixed, if folks are willing to entertain that they may not know everything, their information could be corrupt or wrong, and dedicate themselves to, and rejoin the noble quest searching for objective truth; the same quest that gave rise to religion, philosophy, science, art, psychology and much of the humanities. The narcissism of the age keeps us stuck, as it seeks to destroy truth by gaslighting, projection, and blaming others. I have witnessed malignant narcissism take over entire extended family structures (they can’t see it, it’s like fish in water), why then, as Jung pointed out, can this not playout at the larger level through the collective unconscious, as it seems to be? Objectifying people and judging them superficially (narcissism) is extraordinarily immature. If your normal thought patterns include self soothing by feeling superior to others and denigrating them, instead of seeking understanding and truth, that is likely a sign of unresolved internal conflict and shame, or unreasonable immaturity.
The first noble truth in Buddhism is “Life is Suffering.” It is important to see the humanity in others. Everyone you meet or see is experiencing their own private hell in some way. The cause is desire and attachment to thoughts and ideas. How do you eliminate suffering? By following the eight-fold path: 1. Right understanding 2. Right Intention 3. Right Speech 4. Right Action 5. Right Livelihood 6. Right Effort 7. Right Mindfulness 8. Right Concentration
Dedicating one’s life to something higher (truth, courage, god etc.) is essential for healthy cognition, emotional development, and a good society. If you don’t choose it, it will choose you and you will think you are in control… nope.
“Until you make the unconscious conscious, it will direct your life and you will call it fate.” – C.G. Jung
